- Chapter 2:
- Material from the former two sections 2.6 and 2.7 have been combined into a single compact section 2.6 "Derivatives and Rates of Change."
- Example 2.3.10 on Squeeze theorem (sandwich rule) has been streamlined.
- Chapter 3:
- The section 3.8 "Rates of Change in the Natural and Social Sciences" now appears later in Chapter 3 in order to incorporate more differentiation rules.
- Material on inverse trigonometric functions has been consolidated in a single new section 3.6 "Inverse Trigonometric Functions and Their Derivatives".
- Chapter 4: Two former sections 4.6 "Optimization Problems" and 4.7 "Applications to Business and Economics" have been merged into a single section, with a more concise discussion of optimization problems in business and economics.
- Chapter 6:
- New section 6.3 "Volumes by Cylindrical Shells" introduce shell integration.
- New discovery project Complementary Coffee Cups.
- Chapter 8: Former section on binomial series has been incorporated into Section 8.7 "Taylor and Maclaurin Series".
